Pre-tax loss for the quarter was $8.8 million compared to pre-tax income of $13.2 million in the comparable period of 2004. The net loss for the period included $6.6 million in dividends accrued on preferred stock that was ultimately converted to common stock as part of the Company's recent IPO. The third quarter of 2004 did not have preferred stock dividends or earnings per share as TAL was owned by AEGON N.V. until November 2004.
